Kaziranga National Park has been successful in the conservation of rhinos — to protect the fellow critters, its workers will shoot and even kill a potential poacher. To date, the park has killed 50 people.
At the current moment, the park hosts over 2,400 rhinos, which is about two-thirds of the world’s population. The people who were shot dead by park guards were all after rhino horn, which can be sold for as much as $6000 for 100g.
